Gallagher JIO Post Heavy Duty Wide Jaw Pinlock Insulator
The Gallagher JIO Post Heavy Duty Wide Jaw Pinlock Insulator G72204 is a heavy-duty electric fence insulator designed specifically for Waratah JIO posts. Its wide jaw makes it suitable for larger electric fence conductors, including wire rope, electric fence braid and electric fence tape up to 10mm.
The twin-pin attachment locks securely into the existing holes in JIO posts, providing a strong connection that is designed to handle higher fence pressure. The pinlock system also makes it easy to install and remove the fence conductor without tools, including when the wire is under tension.
Why Use a Wide Jaw Pinlock Insulator?
A standard pinlock insulator may not provide enough room for larger fence conductors. The wide jaw design gives you more room to securely hold larger wire rope, braid and tape, making it a versatile option for electric fencing where a larger conductor needs to be attached directly to a JIO post.
The heavy-duty twin-pin attachment is particularly useful in areas where livestock can place pressure on the fence. Gallagher states that the twin-pin system provides 50% stronger post attachment than standard pinlocks, while the increased diameter front pin is designed to withstand higher wire pressure from stock impact.
Quick Installation and Easy Wire Removal
The twin pins line up with the existing holes in Waratah JIO posts, allowing the insulator to be installed quickly without tools. The pinlock retention system also allows the fence conductor to be installed or removed while under tension, which is useful when repairing, adjusting or changing electric fence layouts.

Frequently Asked Questions
What posts does the Gallagher G72204 fit?
The G72204 is designed specifically for the Waratah JIO post range, including JIO Star and JIO MaxY posts.
What size electric fence conductor will this insulator hold?
The wide jaw can accommodate wire rope, electric fence braid and electric fence tape up to 10mm.
What is a wide jaw pinlock insulator used for?
A wide jaw pinlock insulator is used to attach larger electric fence conductors to a fence post. The wider opening is useful for electric fence rope, braid and tape that may not fit comfortably into a standard pinlock insulator.
Can I install the G72204 without tools?
Yes. The twin-pin system matches the existing holes in compatible JIO posts and is designed for quick installation without tools.
Can I remove electric fence wire while it is under tension?
Yes. The pinlock retention system is designed to allow the fence conductor to be installed and removed under tension.
Is the G72204 suitable for high stock pressure areas?
Yes. The heavy-duty twin-pin design provides a stronger attachment to the JIO post, while the larger front pin is designed to withstand higher wire pressure caused by stock impact.
Is this suitable for electric fence tape?
Yes. The wide jaw is suitable for electric fence tape up to 10mm, as well as suitable wire rope and braid.
Is this a standard pinlock insulator?
No. The G72204 is a heavy-duty wide jaw pinlock insulator with a twin-pin attachment designed specifically for Waratah JIO posts. It is intended for applications requiring stronger attachment and greater conductor capacity.
